I have lived in Ocean County for 25 years and witnessed first hand the destruction alcoholism and drug abuse has caused this community. This disease separates kids from families and families from the community. Much like a sick individual with this disease the community suffers similar symptoms. The individual like the community can suffer denial, misrepresentation, lie, ignore the early warning signs, etc. As a recovering person experience in sobriety outweighs anything else. For those in remission from other chronic, progressive and fatal diseases they are applauded in their attempt.
