What needs to be done is the merging of the two squads whether they like it or not! One department, one twp donations which could be lowered when combined and one Townshipwide donations should be more then enough. The only reason they don't want this are for selfish reason because, they would loose control. They also need to contact the state and put together a guideline on an overall chief and not have it ANY of the good-ole boys/gals that are running it now!

GB Shore..., the only thing that made sense in all your babbling is to cobine the squads. It was suggested and aways shot down by the powers to be that care more about 'oh look at me I got a title!," or for other selfish reason that they just don't want to play nice..., that includes the person commenting to you. He along with several others pushed against the idea!!! Personally what this town needs is a paid service, a paid service that has to follow guidelines and have fully trained crews. Did you know you normally only get 1 EMT on most calls. Why should you get a less trained crew then a liceased EMS service? A liceased EMS crew is accountable!!! This is why the volunteer system in Ocean County and a few other places are so afraid of the new EMS bill they would have to be accountable, follow the same rules as everywhere else. Have all the same training as any other squad anywhere in this state! Heck, as it stand now there is ZERO LEGAL REQUIREMENTS TO EVEN HAVE A EMT ON AN AMBULNCE!!! If your liceased though you are legally required to have 2 EMTs, have certain level of IC training and have certain equipement in the ambulance but, as it stand now as a VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY LEGAL REQUIREMENT!!!! If you don't believe me or when one of the local volunteers say that its not true call the state Office of Emergency Medical Services and ask 609-633-7777

GB shore..., why not join the squad and life the large amount of overweight people that are now out there?
@John Hode..., no offense while I think its a good idea to get them you should have gotten them when our ex-member brought the chance to buy either 2 brand new ones or I think 2 new used ones for 3-4000 I peice that Lou found for us?

@Just do it..., since you don't pay attention nor read all the request the Stercher is for a Power Strecher. It helps with lifting and preventing back injuries and also since people are getting huge it helps life overweight people that the cheaper strechers can't do...., but, if you still think its a waste of money pipe up and join one fo the volunteer abulances. On a side note though several years ago Lacey EMS could have gotten 3 Strechers for a few thousand more and didn't because, the ex-president Bob Frandsen pushed against it and got the other followers to follow..., all because a now ex-member did all the ground work to help us..., I was personally standing there when Bob said "i don't care how good it is or how many members want its X's that involved." Real professional! Just one reason why I left almost a year or so later you can only take so much

Just want to make sure you understand the volunteer EMS here in town does run on average with at least one EMT but, there is NO REQUIREMENT for them to do so. They police themselves..., which as we see all the time fails! We the people deserve to get the same level of service no matter whether its volunteer or paid.
