With higher water levels, the township has seen more flooding
Lacey Township is monitoring the impending storm and Township Administrator and Municipal Clerk said it’s “prepared.” “Lacey, as with other towns, will monitor the storm and if necessary begin plowing the public roadways,” she said. Although the National Weather Service is not reporting large amounts of snow accumulation for the Jersey Shore area, a coastal flood watch has been issued. "Lacey does not do anything extra for the flooding," Laureigh said. "Storm drains are cleaned to be sure they are working but with the higher water levels in the bays, rivers, and lagoons we have seen more flooding." One to three inches of snow is expected for the region tonight.
With the National Weather Service calling for 1-3 inches of snow beginning after 3 p.m. this afternoon, Jan. 25, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is making preparations to clear the area. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a large portion of southern New Jersey, including Atlantic City, Ocean City, Long Beach Island, Cape May Court House, Hammonton, Moorestown, Mount Holly, Jackson, Millville and parts of Pennsylvania and Delaware. The Wednesday storm will bring one to three inches of rain, wind gusts of 60 mph and possibly moderate tidal flooding
The township is projecting possible tidal flooding along the waterfront communities as a nor’easter will hit the area on Wednesday. Weather forecasts are indicating that the area can get one to three inches of rain, sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with gust up to 60 mph and potentially moderate tidal flooding along the bayfront communities with the high tides on Wednesday, Township Administrator and Municipal Clerk Veronica Laureigh said.
