Meetings will remain the second Monday of the month
The township Plannin Board made appointments and set the meeting schedule for 2013 as it reorganized on Monday evening. All appointments, with the exception of Vice Chairman and Conflict Attorney, remain the same for 2013. Last year, Charles Wood served as Vice Chairman and the Conflict Attorney was selected on a case by case basis. Appointments: Meeting times will remain the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted on the township calendar. Meetings will be held at the Municipal Building, 818 Lacey Road, Forked River.

The township zoning Board of Adjustment made appointments and set the meeting schedule for 2013 as it reorganized on Monday evening. The appointments remain the same for 2013: A professional planner and professional certified appraiser will be appointed in February. Meeting times will remain the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted on the township calendar. Meetings will be held at the Municipal Building, 818 Lacey Road, Forked River. The schedules for other township meetings, including the Planning Board, will be decided on at those respective meetings.

Linda Downing was nominated as Vice President at the Board of Education's annual reorganization meeting; professional appointments remain the same for 2013
Eric Schubiger was nominated as the president of the Board of Education after an annual reorganization meeting Monday. “There’s no question that operating a public school district today is more difficult than ever for a lot of reasons,” Schubiger said. “I know we have the right people up here to help guide this community and this district through anything we will face. We have a tall task but I know we’re going to do a good job.” In 2013, the primary challenge will be adopting a budget that provides a quality education for students while keeping costs down, Schubiger said. The school district’s reorganization meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Lacey Township High School. The meeting was typically held in the spring, but since school board elections shifted to November, the reorganization meeting has moved too. In 2013, professional appointments will remain the same for Lacey Township. For the second year in a row, Democratic Committeeman Sean Sharkey opposed the appointment of township attorney and labor counsel at Tuesday’s annual reorganization meeting. George Gilmore was reappointed as township attorney while the firm Citta, Holzapfel and Zabarsky is once again labor counsel. “Gilmore is the head of our opposition,” Sharkey previously said. “We were elected for change, and we would still like to see some change in positions.” Gilmore is chairman of the Republican Party of Ocean County and has served as the Lacey Township attorney since the mid-1980s.
