Superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower highlighted opportunities for change as she presented her midterm report
Superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower will begin phase three of her transition plan as she begins to lead the Lacey Township School District after presenting her midterm report at the school board meeting on Tuesday. “From November until now, I have listened, I have watched I have written, I have taken pictures, I have done all that I could to understand what it looks like and what it feels like to live and work and learn here in Lacey Township,” Brower said. Brower first presented the transition plan on Tuesday, Nov. 15. “I talked about the value added benefit that someone new to an organization gives and it takes some time,” Brower said. “So in the first three months, there’s a lot of taking and then slowly but surely we start to effect …

Midterm report will reveal findings in three categories: teaching and learning, culture and community and operations
Superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower will be presenting her midterm report at this month’s school board meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. “I have had the privilege over the past few months to work alongside a team of committed and passionate people who care deeply about Lacey Township students,” Brower said. “I am excited more than ever for the opportunity to serve this school community.” Brower began her superintendency in November with a transition plan focused on three phases of listening, learning and leading. The plan included meeting with “stakeholders” such as students, parents, teachers, staff, members of the community and the Board of Education. During the course of her 90-day “listening tour” many shared their feelings of pride in the …

Residents should come prepared with topics and ideas to discuss at tonight's open forum, which will take place at the Lacey Middle School at 7 p.m.
Parents and community members are invited to Superintendent Sandra Brower’s open forum in the Lacey Township Middle School’s media center at 7 p.m. today. “I’m inviting the community,” Brower told Patch when she originally set up her “meet and greets” in January. “It will be informative. To meet people and talk to people about how they’re feeling about the schools and what they envision for the future.” These forums are a part of Brower’s transition plan since she took the position in November. The transition plan consists of three phases that focus on listening and learning and eventually leading, she has previously stated. The plan includes meeting with “stakeholders” such as students, parents, teachers, staff, members of the community …

Dr. Sandra Brower will be releasing a mid-term report in February
More than 20 members of the community came out to mingle today with Superintendent Sandra Brower at her first meet and greet. “I’m looking forward to a lot of good changes that Dr. Brower has planned for the school district,” Maria Shuflat said. “I hope there aren’t many brick walls for her to breakdown.” The coffee hour was an informal opportunity for parents and Lacey homeowners to voice their ideas, passions and visions, Brower said. “People came out for a whole variety of reasons,” she said. “It gives me a lot to think about.” Coffee hours are a part of Brower’s transition plan since she took the position in November. The transition plan consists of three phases that focus on listening and learning and eventually leading, she has …

To stay in touch with school happenings from the new superintendent's point of view, visit Lacey Patch
New superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower has been documenting her experiences on a blog linked to the school district’s website. But now, “Learning About Lacey” is coming to Lacey Patch. Brower began her blog as part of her transition plan, to engage the community. By using Lacey Patch, she’ll have the opportunity to reach a greater audience because the schools are not just for parents and students. The district impacts all of Lacey’s present and future. The purpose of the blog is to communicate with the community and to “strengthen the home-school connection,” Brower told Patch in November. “It’s just a great way for people to communicate,” she said. “It’s an opportunity…we cannot wait for people to come to us. We need to get information to …

School Board can begin screening and interview process after receiving input from the community and staff
The search for a new superintendent is officially underway as the Board of Education received the candidate’s applications and a consultant from the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) presented the results of the community input session. “There were a lot of positives said about your school district as well as concerns for the future. Your school district has not gone through a change in many, many years so obviously there’s some apprehension about this,” said Charlene Zoerb, a consultant from the NJSBA. Zoerb recently held a community input session with about approximately 15 residents, another with 45 staff members, and received 10 e-mail responses from residents. She presented the feedback that she received to the school board…
