Current Assistant Principal at Lacey High School begins on July 1
With his four young boys and wife looking down from the top row of seats in the high school lecture hall, the Lacey Township Board of Education voted to appoint Jeffrey Brewer as the next principal of the Lanoka Harbor Elementary School. "I know Jeff is going to bring all the experience he has learned here at Lacey High School," Superintendent Sandra D. Brower said at the April 15 board meeting. "We are so excited for him." Rosemarie Bond's retirement will be effective Monday, July 1
Lanoka Harbor Elementary School Principal Rosemarie Bond will be retiring come July. Bond’s retirement was approved at the Board of Education meeting on Jan. 22. “I think it should be noted that we’re going to be voting tonight on a longtime employee who’s going to be retiring,” board member Frank Palino said at the meeting. “I think we should take a moment to thank her for her dedicated service in administration and a job well done and wish her best of luck in her retirement.” According to the board’s January agenda, her retirement is effective Monday, July 1. Bond has served the Lacey Township School District for 32 years, according to figures provided by Business Administrator James Savage. Her current salary is $139,381, plus $28,600 …

Lanoka Harbor Elementary gifted and talented students competed against 35 teams in the Southern New Jersey Division of the SIFMA Foundation's Stock Market Game
Lanoka Harbor School captured first place in the Southern New Jersey Division of the Stock Market Game. Fourth-grade gifted and talented students Emma Harken, James Mitchelli, Ryan Price and Jenna Strifler joined forces as the “Smart Stock Kids” and competed against 35 other teams in grades four through eight. “This is an extraordinary group of students with tremendous talent and potential,” Principal Rosemarie Bond said. “I have every confidence that these students will continue to accomplish great things. We are very proud of them.” The Stock Market Game is a free program offered by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation. The third and fourth grade gifted and talented students of Lanoka Harbor Elementary are growing oysters to help repopulate the Barnegat Bay
The Lanoka Harbor Elementary Gifted and Talented students got a lesson on growing oysters as part of a ReClam the Bay project. “Our goal is to have them go into the other classes and educate their peers,” Teacher Darlene Price said. “Kids teaching kids. That’s our vision.” Price’s third and fourth grade gifted and talented students will be growing 20 oysters in the classroom to help repopulate the bay, which is the mission of the grassroots organization ReClam the Bay. Reclam the Bay received a grant and is using the funds to donate equipment to Price’s students. Price is a member of the volunteer organization, Price said. The students will receive two tanks and the necessary equipment to participate in experiments and monitor the oysters…

A nine-year-old Lacey girl suffering from a form of cancer received a themed party at St. Pius the Tenth Parish
A young Lacey Township girl was the recipient of a surprise medieval tea party at St. Pius the Tenth Parish in Lacey on Sunday afternoon, one given by a legion of well-wishers, volunteers, friends and family members. At the center of the event was Anastasia “Ana” Kopack, 9, who is afflicted with rhabdomyosarcoma – a type of cancer, which attaches itself to muscular tissue in the human body. Ana was diagnosed with this relatively rare disease back on March 28 of this year, according to her mother Fran Kopack. Event coordinator Cathy Rapsas, of Lacey Township, said that Ana is a fourth-grade student at Lanoka Harbor Elementary School and the purpose of the day was to lift her spirits. “Battling cancer is devastating in every possible way, …

Lanoka Harbor Elementary School held their spring concert
Lanoka Harbor elementary band had their spring concert. Students were treated to instrumental pieces designed to help beginning musicians to learn how to play. Mrs. Tabit was conducting. Tabit has been key in music education in Lacey township as she also helps on the high school level by providing assistance to other music departments.
