At approximately $254,000, the district will be implementing five full day kindergarten classes in each elementary school with a projected average class size of 25 students
Nearly nine months after the school district unveiled its full day kindergarten pilot with a lottery system, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Vanessa Clark announced that a program would be open to all Lacey kindergarteners in September. At approximately $254,000, the district will be implementing five full day kindergarten classes in each elementary school with a projected average class size of 25 students, Clark said during a report on the pilot program at Tuesday’s school board meeting. “We are very happy to be making this announcement this evening,” she said. Return to Lacey Patch at 7:30 p.m. for live coverage of the school board meeting
Superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower will be presenting a report on the full day kindergarten pilot program at Tuesday’s Board of Education at 7:30 p.m. in the high school Lecture Hall. The district unveiled its full day kindergarten pilot in July. The program began in September with 72 students selected through a lottery. Brower’s report will unveil the program’s progress and where the district stands moving forward. In addition to the …

I wish you had it when my daughters went to kindergarten,” Gary Vaccaro said at Monday’s school board meeting. “But I’m trying to get a handle on what the metrics are next with this pilot study.” After unveiling a full-time kindergarten pilot program, the Lacey Township School District held a lottery on Thursday, Aug. 2. This September, there will be one full-day kindergarten class per elementary school with a class size of 24 and the fate of each student was left up to a lottery. …

Parents express range of emotions at school district's kindergarten lottery

With the click of a button Thursday afternoon, the next year of her child’s education was determined. She was number 23 of 24. Her daughter just made it into the district’s full time kindergarten pilot program. Larson slightly crouched, covered her mouth with both hands in shock, and said, “I got in!” Larson made a phone call almost immediately to share the news. “I’m just so happy I’m out of daycare,” she said, although she called the lottery process “wrong” and a “terrible thing.” “My child’s going to have more of an advantage," Larson said. After unveiling a full-time kindergarten pilot program, the Lacey Township School …
