Interact Fundraiser Raises $15,000

LTHS Rotary-sponsored organization tells how they're going to spend it, and reflects on past and upcoming projects

Lacey Township High School’s March Madness sports fundraiser earned $15,000 for Interact and guest organizer former NFL player Lonnie Allgood, who will donate his proceedings to his Dare to Dream project. Interact is a 169-member community service organization at the high school sponsored by the Forked River Rotary Club. This week, Interact officers discussed how they plan to spend their $7,000 share and commented on past and future programs. Interact plans to split the money between several global and local projects, and is considering the following causes. To aid the current crisis in Japan, Interact would like to contribute money to shelter boxes — ready-to-use “instant shelters” that can be dropped directly to sites where needed. …

NFL Players Come to Lacey for March Madness

Education, goal-setting, character, community, clean-living— and a Friday fundraiser for polio and clean water

As Lonnie Allgood, former NFL player for the Cincinnati Bengals, announced that he was bringing professional athletes to Lacey, Cedar Creek third and fourth graders let out a series of respectful “ooohs.” A March Madness basketball game will take place at Lacey Township High School Friday, March 11 as a fundraiser for Interact, a LTHS student organization, and Dreams for Kids, a non-profit run by Allgood. Professional football players will play short basketball games against six teams of local Lacey residents. Groups represented in individual teams include Lacey athletes, the high school varsity football team, a girl’s basketball team, teachers, coaches and police officers.
