Friends and family will gather at Riggs Funeral Home at 3 p.m. prior to funeral services at 5:30 p.m. for Dan DiFabio, 18, of Forked River. DiFabio, a high school senior, was pronounced dead at his Forked River home on Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been released. A friend, who asked to remain anonymous, made the above video in DiFabio’s memory. On Facebook, DiFabio has been remembered as a “sweetheart.” He was known for his smile and humor. Great video, so sad the circumstances. I just prayed for the whole family, not just the parents, but any siblings also. This must be a nightmare for all that loved him. I pray for healing for them, for peace.   more ›

District Counseling Services Available to Students Throughout Winter Break

In response to the death of a high school senior, students will be able to contact members of the Lacey Township School District Crisis Team for assistance

Counseling and crisis assistance will be made available by the Lacey school district following the death of a high school senior. Dan DiFabio, 18, was pronounced dead at his Forked River home on Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been released. There will be a gathering for family and friends at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at Riggs Funeral Home in Forked River until funeral services at 5:30 p.m. Since DiFabio’s death, the district has been offering counseling services to students. Members of the Lacey Township School District Crisis Team will be available over winter break to students who need assistance. The names of team members are available below with contact information. Funeral Services for High School Senior to be Held Saturday

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Riggs Funeral Home at 3 p.m. until the services at 5:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held for Dan DiFabio on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Riggs Funeral Home. DiFabio, 18, was pronounced dead at his Forked River home on Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been released. DiFabio was a Lacey Township High School senior and was on the wrestling team, according to his obituary. He was a member of the Junk Yard Motocross Crew, American Motocross Association, enjoyed weight lifting and the Barnegat Bay. Born in Toms River, DiFabio was a lifetime Lacey Township resident. Letter: Parent/Guardian Meeting to be Held in Response to High School Senior's Death

The District Response Crisis Team as well as grief counselors will be available at 6:30 p.m. to provide parents and guardians with information to help children cope with loss

Dear Parents and Guardians, On Tuesday, Dec. 18, we learned that a member of our senior class, Daniel DiFabio, died at home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the DiFabio family and we extend our deepest heartfelt sympathies. Today at school each teacher read a short message in homeroom. Guidance counselors and our mental health professionals were available throughout the day to talk with students who knew Dan and those who may have had a difficult time dealing with this very sad news. Private and group sessions were available as well as quiet places for students to be with friends. Counseling services are extended until 8 p.m. this evening. Any death is difficult for people to understand. We recommend that you take some time to discuss …

The Lacey Township School District is offering counseling services to students throughout the day until 8 p.m. Wednesday

Dan DiFabio, 18, was known for his smile and humor. “Dan, you were so amazing! You always had a smile on your face and you always made everyone smile and laugh around you,” Tina Monbleau said on Facebook. The Lacey Township High School senior was pronounced dead at his Forked River home Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been released. Monbleau continued to call DiFabio a “sweetheart.” “We have such an amazing angel watching over us now and you’re in a very special place right now,” she said. A candlelight vigil was held in DiFabio’s memory Tuesday night and a makeshift Facebook page has been created in his honor. As of Wednesday afternoon, the page had 1,988 likes.
