Emergency management workers encourage residents to be prepared
The Atlantic Hurricane basin is highly active this weekend, and perhaps no one is more worried than the employees of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. Late Friday, Tropical Storm Harvey was upgraded from a Tropical Depression by the National Hurricane Center. While Harvey is forecast to remain in South America, there is plenty of other tropical action waiting in the wings. At least two tropical waves in the Atlantic have more than a 40 percent chance of tropical development, according to the National Hurricane center this weekend. Back at home, we've seen plenty of record setting heat waves this summer. So with over two months left in the Atlantic Hurricane Season, it's no wonder that some are nervous about what the remainder …

Our area is in for a prolonged period of unsettled weather
There is a very slow-moving disturbance that has been creeping its way eastward this past weekend, which has brought us the heavy cloud cover and scattered rain showers. As this system continues to approach our area, we will see the week begin with steady rain and a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. Clouds will linger the entire week, with a chance of scattered showers occurring throughout each day this week. The temperatures should remain relatively constant, reaching a high in the mid 70s. This pattern will continue into early next week. Despite the constant cloud cover and scattered rain showers, our area has avoided the brunt of a record-breaking cost for weather related disasters this year. According to the National Oceanic and …

Sunny, blue skies will be common through the first half of the week until the clouds roll in later, bringing rain
The first half of this week’s weather will bring beautifully sunny skies with temperatures reaching the low 70s. But the second half of the week will bring cloudy, and grey skies with numerous chances of scattered rain showers. On Monday we will see mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching the low 70s. Winds may gust up to 20 mph. This pattern will continue through Thursday where we will see blue skies above and temperatures continuously reaching the 70 degree mark. Clouds will build later in the day on Thursday as this pattern of sun breaks on Friday. Light rain may fall during the morning hours on Friday and scattered showers could appear throughout the remainder of the day. The grey skies and wet weather will linger through Sunday …

Temperatures expected to hover in the 60s throughout the week
The last week of April brought our first taste of summer. The first week of May will feel more like spring, as high temperatures settle back into the 60s. Monday will see a mixture of sun and clouds throughout the day. There is the risk for a late day thunderstorm rolling through the area so it may be wise to carry an umbrella as you begin the weekwork. A chance for several rain showers exists throughout the day on Tuesday. Temperatures will be similar to Monday and should again reach the mid-60s. The greatest threat of a prolonged rain event will come on Wednesday. Rain should move in early and linger throughout the entire day and into the evening hours. Some of these showers could be heavy at times. As Wednesday’s storm system moves out …

This final week of April will bring several chances of rain along with mild temperatures
As the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.” This final week of April will bring several chances of rain showers along with some thunderstorms. Temperatures will continue to fluctuate between the mid-60s and mid-70s throughout the week. The week will begin with temperatures struggling to hit the 70-degree mark. Clouds will dominate the sky and bring with them the chance of a late day thunderstorm. Tuesday appears to be much more pleasant with temperatures warming into the mid-70s. Winds are expected to gust up to 30 mph. Mid-week should begin sunny but clouds will build later on with the chance of some light rain. Temperatures will approach the mid-70s with winds gusting once again to 30 mph. Thursday should be the cloudiest day …
