Lacey beaches open Saturday, June 16
Lacey's beach season begins today and the township will celebrate with a Beach Bash today at Deerhead Lake Beach at noon. The bash will feature a castle competition, pirate treasure hunt, and the music of DNA, a Caribbean infused pop duo. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Lacey Township’s beaches may not border an ocean but there is beach access to a creek and lakes in which beach badges are now available for. Beach patrol will begin on Saturday, June 16 for Lacey's four beaches: Cedar Creek Beach on Forrest Avenue in Lanoka Harbor, Bamber Lake Beach in Bamber Lake, Deerhead Lake Beach on Deerhead Lake Drive in Forked River and Lake Barnegat Beach on Lakeside Drive in Forked River. Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department offering a handful of new programs for children and parents.
If you are stumped on what to do during the cold winter days, there's family fun offered in some new or amended programs sponsored by the Ocean County Parks and Recreation Department. The events range from bowling to gym days to parachute games. There's a small fee, and registration is required. Programs include: Born to Play: Parent and child will enjoy indoor bowling, basketball and parachute games. The cost is $8 per team (1 child and 1 adult), ages 3 to 5 years for children. The class will be Tuesday, February 7 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Program Room at Parks Administration Office, Toms River.
