Belmar Is The Jersey Shore's Favorite 'Staycation' Spot, Poll Says

Island Beach State Park and Jenkinson's finished second and third, respectively

A late, improbable rally put Belmar beaches at the top of this week's Readers' Choice poll for favorite Jersey Shore "staycation" spots, with 113 votes. Belmar is known for it's wide, long boardwalk, and its attraction to college-age adults who enjoy the beach and the local night-life. Island Beach State Park, the only natural beach on the Jersey Shore other than Sandy Hook, led for much of the week but finished second with 82 votes. Jenkinson's Boardwalk, which includes an aquarium, rides, food and other seaside pleasures in Point Pleasant Beach, finished third with 77. Thank you for voting in this week's poll. Readers' Choice: Opinions Mixed on Favorite Mother's Day Brunch Spot

The race was a close one with no clear first place winner but Captain's Inn takes second, according to our points system

Well Lacey, this race was a close one with mixed results. Lacey voters did not seem to be satisfied with our choices for favorite Mother's Day restaurant. With 38 votes, or 21 percent of the votes, other came out on top. Captain’s Inn and the Forked River House were tied with 33 votes or 18 percent. With a race so close, we had to consult our contest rules (attached as a PDF). Since both the Captain’s Inn and the Forked River House received the same number of votes, they both get 8 points for being in second place. But during the voting period, readers are also able to rate a business in the Lacey Patch Directory as well as comment below. Captain’s Inn received both positive and negative comments but any tie would be broken with a good …

Captain's Inn is the best. We went for Easter and had such a great time that we went back for Mother's Day. The buffet is awesome and the staff was incredibly nice. My kids love the historic nature of the place as well. For food, service and waterfront location you can't beat this place.   more ›

Every Bloomin' Thing Readers' Choice for Best Florist

Forked River shop pulls ahead of Sunflower Florist and Forked River Florist

The results are in, and readers have chosen Every Bloomin' Thing in Forked River as the best floral shop in the area. Every Bloomin' Thing ran away with the votes, capturing 54 percent of the 132 votes cast. In second place was Sunflowers Florist with 42 percent of the responses, followed by Forked River Florist with 18 percent of votes. Readers' Choice: JT's Bagel Hut Wins by a Landslide

Sunrise Bagel Cafe comes in second

In this week’s Reader’s Choice for Lacey’s favorite bagel shop, JT’s Bagel Hut won by a landslide. Out of 192 votes, JT’s came away with 157 or 81 percent. Second place was a close call. Sunrise Bagel Café received 17 votes or 8 percent while Manhattan Bagel got 15 votes or 7 percent. German Butcher Takes First in Readers' Choice

Where do you go when you want something a little different to eat?

This week, we asked our loyal readers to choose their favorite ethnic restaurant. The Forked River German Butcher won by quite a large margin with 53 votes, or 42 percent of responses, as the top place to go in the township. In second place was the Portuguese Grill with 24 votes or 19 percent of responses and Fuju Japanese Steakhouse was third with 19 votes, or 15 percent of responses. Perkins Readers' Choice for Best Kid-Friendly Restaurant

It was a close race but Perkins captured the majority of this week's votes for Readers' Choice

This week, we asked our loyal readers to choose their favorite kid-friendly restaurant. It was a close call but readers ultimately chose Perkins as the best place to go.
