Man Tried to Defraud Lacey Pharmacy of RX Drugs, Cops Say

Warrant arrests, criminal mischief and other reports

A Toms River resident was arrested after he allegedly fraudulently attempted to obtain prescription drugs from a Lacey pharmacy, Chief of Police David Paprota said. Zinovy Rapoport, 38, of Toms River was transported to Ocean County Jail April 3 after police said he attempted to obtain prescription drugs from the ShopRite pharmacy, Paprota said. Rapoport allegedly called the store posing as a representative of a physician's office and ordered a Vicodin prescription for a fictitious patient, Paprota said. When Rapoport arrived at the pharmacy to pick up the prescription, he was confronted by Lacey police and arrested, Paprota said. The pharmacist had recognized that the prescription was fradulent and called the police. Rapoport was charged …

Waretown Man Charged in Cop Chase

DUI, warrant arrests and other police activity from April 6 through April 8

A Waretown man was in custody after a motor vehicle stop led to a police chase down Route 9. Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas observed a vehicle with fictitious registration plates and conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Route 9 and the Oyster Creek Generating Station on April 6 at 10:30 p.m., Chief David Paprota said. The vehicle, driven by David Donnamaria, 45, of Waretown, fed the scene, Paprota said. Officer Tsarnas pursued the car to the parking lot of Longshots Bar on Route 9 in Waretown where Donnamaria was arrested, Paprota said. Donnamaria’s wife and their four-year-old child were also in the vehicle, Paprota said. Donnamaria was charged with eluding, endangering the welfare of a child and several motor vehicle charges. Police: Lanoka Harbor Man Owed $71K in Child Support

Theft and DUI arrests

A Lanoka Harbor man was arrested and charged with thousands in willful nonsupport. Officer Evan Androcy arrested Steven Gonzalez, 42, of Lanoka Harbor on March 26 for a $71,107.14 warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department for willful nonsupport. Gonzalez could not post bail and was transported to Ocean County Jail. According to the Ocean County Jail’s inmate information, Gonzalez was previously charged with driving on the revoked list, drunk or drugged driving, purposely causing bodily harm to another, contempt of court, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, shoplifting and operating a motor vehicle during second subsequent DWI. 'Suspicious Person' Caught With Drugs, Cops Say

Forked River woman has been charged on several occasions

A Forked River woman was arrested at Wawa on drug-related charges after police investigated a “suspicious person,” police said. Natalie Jones, 31, of Forked River was located at the Wawa on Lacey Road on March 30 at approximately 3:37 a.m. Police were dispatched to investigate a "suspicious person" and as a result Officer Ewart arrested Jones, police said. Jones was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to Ocean County Jail with bail set at $2,500. Jones also had a $500 warrant from Toms River Township. Lacey Police also arrested Jones on March 7. Lacey Man Broke Into Community Hall, Cops Say

Shoplifting, DUI and warrant arrests

A Forked River man was arrested after he broke into Community Hall, police said. Officer Julie Barcalow arrested James T. Cort, 51, on March 21 at 11:20 p.m. Cort allegedly forced open a window and entered Community Hall located at the intersection of Route 9 and Lacey Road, police said. He was charged with criminal mischief and trespassing. Cort was sent to Ocean County Jail with bail set at $2,500. Lt. Police: DUI Driver Fled Scene, Resisted Arrest

Lacey DUI and warrant arrests

A Forked River man was arrested after he allegedly "refused to cooperate" with an officer, police said. Andrew Wake, 24, was driving on Beach Boulevard when Officer Evan Androcy stopped him for speeding at 2:50 a.m. March 17. Wake refused to cooperate and fled from the scene, police said. Androcy followed Wake to his home where he resisted arrest, police said. Wake was restrained and arrested. He was charged with obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest, DUI, reckless driving and speeding. Lacey Man Out $8,700 in Internet Scam

Police report attempted fraud incidents

A Forked River resident reported that he wired $8,700 to an account in Georgia through what he believed was “Google Wallet” for the purchase of a vehicle. Google Wallet is an online system that stores payment information, transaction history, offers and more. The victim saw the vehicle on craigslist and believed he was buying it from a legitimate person from Nebraska. Several emails were exchange. After the money was wired, the victim never received the delivery of the truck to his residence. The resident also was no longer receiving email correspondence from the person who was supposedly selling the truck. Fingerprint at Burglary Scene Matches Lacey Man

Thefts and burglaries from the past week

A fingerprint lifted at the scene of a Lacey house burglary was recently matched to a Forked River resident, police said. Dillon Devlin, 21, of Forked River was arrested and charged after an automated fingerprint identification system identified him as a burglar of a Vaughn Avenue home, police said. Lacey police lifted the fingerprint at the Forked River home on April 15, 2011. Detectives recently located and arrested Devlin during a traffic stop, police said. Devlin also had an outstanding warrant issued by the Ocean County Superior Court for failing to comply with probation. He was charged with burglary and theft of moveable property for the 2011 burglary and was sent in the Ocean County Jail with no bail set. The matter is still under …

Lacey Police Investigate Possible Telephone Fraud

Warrant, shoplifting and DUI arrests

Police are warning the community of a possible telephone fraud after a Lacey resident received a letter in the mail from someone posing as a bank, police said. The victim reported that she received a letter on March 3 from “Comenity” Bank, instead of Community Bank, in Ohio, police said. The letter indicated that her PacSun credit card application was denied and included the phone number 866-668-5450 to call for questions. The victim contacted the number and she was told she was a “victim of identity theft.” She provided the person on the phone with her personal information, including date of birth and social security number, police said. She later contacted Equifax, a consumer credit reporting agency, and informed them of the incident. …

Wanted Man Nabbed at Middle School

Warrant, shoplifting and DUI arrests

Police arrested a repeat offender after they were dispatched to the Lacey Middle School on report of an alarm activation. Officer Andrew Slota arrested Michael Cannito, 20, of Forked River shortly before midnight on March 11. Slota was dispatched to the middle school when the alarm was activated, police said. While inspecting the school, the officer spotted Cannito walking through the school’s parking lot. The officer made an inquiry regarding Cannito’s presence at the school, police said. It was then discovered that Cannito had three no bail Ocean County warrants. Cannito was arrested and transported to the Ocean County Jail.
