If approved by township Committee, some residents in flood hazard areas will be able to elevate homes without zoning board approval
The Planning Board has recommended an ordinance to the township Committee that would allow residents living on an undersized lot in flood hazard areas to elevate without zoning board approval as long as they meet setback requirements. The amendment, if approved by the Committee, would "facilitate" the rebuilding process for residents who have been significantly impacted by Hurricane Sandy, Director of Community Development John Curtin said at a regular Planning Board meeting Monday. Residents living on undersized lots would be able to elevate their homes without zoning board approval as long as their plans meet setback regulations and do not require variances. After purchasing township property in 2010, the LMUA was originally told they would not need site plan approval
The Lacey Municipal Utilities Authority (LMUA) was reluctant to approach the Planning Board for approval of facilities that have existed for 15 years. At the request of the township, the LMUA submitted a final site plan application and had it approved by the Planning Board on Monday night. “We have been directed to be here today by the township and we are here seeking final site plan approval for what has existed for about 15 years,” LMUA attorney Jerry Dasti said. Up until two years ago the LMUA leased storage and maintenance facilities on township property and had a cell tower built. Meetings will remain the second Monday of the month
The township Plannin Board made appointments and set the meeting schedule for 2013 as it reorganized on Monday evening. All appointments, with the exception of Vice Chairman and Conflict Attorney, remain the same for 2013. Last year, Charles Wood served as Vice Chairman and the Conflict Attorney was selected on a case by case basis. Appointments: Meeting times will remain the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted on the township calendar. Meetings will be held at the Municipal Building, 818 Lacey Road, Forked River.

The modified report proposes permitting multi-family dwelling units in mixed-use buildings
The Planning Board approved a resolution recommending the township Committee adopt the Master Plan Re-examination Report, a guiding document on land use and development goals, Monday night. A Planning Board committee developed in October 2011 worked alongside the Economic Development Commission to review and update the master plan, Deputy Mayor and Planning Board member Gary Quinn said. Elements looked at included land use, housing circulation, utilities, renewable energy, community facilities, recreation, conservation, farmland preservation, business and the historic district. Confection Connection is coming to Lacey from Manasquan
A bakery will be filling in the unit where Fast Cash used to be located on Lacey Road after the Planning Board adopted a resolution approving the application. Confection Connection, received administrative approval by the Planning Board in December. The bakery will be coming to town as the Planning Board lifted certain food restrictions for the particular unit.
