Car Was Charging When Fire Ignited in Forked River Garage

The blaze was confined to the garage and extinguished within 15 minutes

A fire ignited in the garage of a Forked River home damaging two cars on Saturday, Chief Ray Brandmahl of the Forked River Fire Department said. At approximately 4 p.m., the fire company responded to the scene on Leilani Drive where two cars—an electric and a Camaro—were located in a flooded garage. One was connected to a trickle charger, Brandmahl said. The residents were home when the fire ignited, he said. No injuries were reported and damage was confined to the cars, garage and garage doors. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes, he said. The Ocean County Fire Marshal also responded to the scene. The incident is still under investigation, Brandmahl said.

Penguin Court Fire Deemed Accidental

The fire that left the Forked River home uninhabitable originated on the porch, officials say

The fire that destroyed a Penguin Court home early Monday morning was deemed accidental, Ocean County Fire Marshal Robert Cook said. Fire departments responded to the scene at 12:55 a.m. It took approximately two hours and 30 firefighters to control the blaze. No injuries were reported. “The front of the house was totally up to the roof with flames,” Forked River Fire Department Chief Ray Brandmahl said of the department’s arrival on Monday. “You could see the glow from a block away before we got there.” “It was very hot,” Brandmahl previously said. “Electrical wires were popping and insulation was burning out in the street.” The fire was accidental in nature and originated on the porch, Cook said. Investigations Ongoing for Four Lacey Fires

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is working in conjunction with the Ocean County Fire Marshal on any fires that may appear to be suspicious

Four fires that occurred in Lacey between Thursday, April 5 and Sunday, April 8 are still under investigation, John Rieth of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said. “They all are under investigation and they all are under control,” he said. “There are no new causes per say until the investigations are complete.” The state forest fire service along with local fire departments battled three brush fires in Lacey in just four days: on April 8 three acres on private property off Lacey Road in the Pine Barrens, another 3-acre fire near the Greenwood Forest on Route 539 on April 7 and a 6-acre fire on Lakeside Drive East on April 5. Early Morning Blaze Forces Stores to Close

Fire engulfed the Eric Plaza at 3:40 a.m. originating underneath the exterior soffit

A fire engulfed the Eric Plaza early this morning forcing most of the businesses to close. The Forked River Fire Department Responded to the scene at approximately 3:40 a.m., Chief Kevin Flynn said. No injuries were reported. A passerby who saw smoke called in the fire, said Barry Sipe, a public insurance adjuster representing the building owners. The fire department knocked down the blaze in less than five minutes, Flynn said. The fire was contained to the exterior causing minimal damage. Two windows were broken and the tanning salon experienced minor water damage. Each of the eleven units was overcome by smoke, Flynn said.
