Grossman could not say how many people were hospitalized as a result of the accidents; all but one of the injuries was reported to be minor. A passing motorist killed Anibal Espinoza, 34, of North Plainfield when he and a group of friends were attempting to assist a Barnegat woman with her disabled car. Two were charged in the accident. From mile markers 60 to 80 north and southbound, police responded to a total of 40 motor vehicle accidents, some single and others involving multiple cars, Grossman said. N.J. State Police Hiring Recruits

As many as 225 spots will be available for applicants who want to be state troopers.

Police departments across New Jersey have been hit hard by layoffs over the past few years, due to budget cuts in a crippled economy.  The effects of the recession may linger, but one law-enforcement agency in the state is actually hiring.  New Jersey State Police announced Wednesday that they will begin accepting applications next month from candidates who want to be state troopers. As many as 225 spots will be available when two State Police academy classes commence training next spring.  The application period runs online from May 7 to 29. This is the first time the state police have accepted applications since February 2010. The most recent class of state troopers graduated this past January, adding 85 to the ranks.  State Police …

As one who has been there and done that...I can agree with most of what you say Helen however, the 25 years and retire isn't all it's cracked up to be, I did 32 years...the retirement isn't bad but if you go at 25 years..you may need to get another job...and after awhile...you do start to slow down...25 years of Law Enforcement is a "LONG TIME !!" Nuke Response Hearing Focuses On Japanese Disaster

Residents voice concerns about Oyster Creek Generating Station and its similarities to Fukushima Daiichi in Japan

The disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan weighed heavily on the minds of those who attended a public hearing Tuesday on the New Jersey Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP). The hearing, held by the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the New Jersey State Police, was treated as a question and answer session as members of the public expressed their concerns with Oyster Creek Generating Station, the oldest operating nuclear plant in the country. The Emergency Response Plan is updated annually with minor changes, said Paula Baldauf, assistant director of Radiation Protection Programs with the DEP. “Since agencies' roles and responsibilities of the RERP outlines don’t often change, the plan itself …

I didn't say Soros orchestrated it...he just stands to profit immensely by it. There's nothing good about the government seizing private property and forcing people to live only in cramped high-rise housing units along high speed rail lines that connect predetermined urbanized zones....under a one world government no less. Then there is the little matter of the government limiting couples to 2 …   more ›

Coast Guard no longer participating in search

New Jersey State Police are continuing their search for a missing Lanoka Harbor man who fell overboard into the Barnegat Bay early Saturday evening. Nicholas Holmes, 25, was a passenger in a 23-foot scarab boat when the incident occurred around 6 p.m., State Police Sgt. Brian Polite said today. Preliminary investigation indicates that the boat hit the wake of another boat. Four people were on board, he said. "It caused the driver to lose control of the boat and in turn ejected the two passengers," Polite said. The other man, identified as Michael Cavanaugh, was able to make it back onto the boat. He received minor injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, Police said. The U.S. Coast Guard has stopped participating …

How To Avoid Trouble With the Law: Pull Up Your Pants

Also, try to avoid driving on your high school's field. Police just don't like that.

Every parent's been there. You're rushing to get out of the house for the family portrait at Grandma's or a playdate. You're already 10 minutes late. And everyone's ready except your precious little tyke or tykette—who absolutely refuses to get dressed. You pull your little buddle of joy's pants up, and he or she promptly pulls them down. You try to reason, and your little prince or princess starts the tantrum. You just can't win (well, not until you realize you're bigger than your toddler and can just pick him or her up). Security officers at the Quaker Bridge Mall experienced a similar frustration when they approached a 24-year-old woman whose underwear was clearly visible, police said. The security officers asked her to pull up her …
