Police discovered a Bayville woman unresponsive next to an upended Mitsubishi on fire
A Bayville woman was unresponsive at the scene of a Lakeside Drive South motor vehicle accident early Friday morning. At 3:16 a.m., Lacey police responded to the wooded area adjacent to the second lake, near the intersection of Lakeside Drive South and Claire Road, for a report of a motor vehicle crash, police said. A Mitsubishi Galant sedan was lying on its passenger side with the engine compartment engulfed in flames, police said. The driver, Tara Smith, 23, of Bayville was located lying unresponsive along the shore of the lake, within feet of the burning vehicle, police said. JCP&L responded to Route 9 and Laurel Boulevard to secure and replace poles after they were struck by a motor vehicle
A Beachwood man was arrested after a motor vehicle accident that occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning, police said. Michael Rockhill, 22, was arrested once police investigated an accident at the intersection of Route 9 and Laurel Boulevard. Officers responded to the accident at 2 a.m. Saturday where a single car struck two utility poles, causing damage to both, police said. Rockhill was not injured and refused medical treatment, police said. He was arrested and charged for driving while under the influence of alcohol, police said. He was processed and released. JCP&L responded to the scene to secure and replace the poles, police said.

Waretown man charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane after striking two vehicles
A Waretown man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a three-car motor vehicle accident in front of Oyster Creek Generating Station. Route 9 was shut down for approximately 20 minutes on Friday while police investigated the accident in which Richard Bischoff Jr., 40, of Waretown allegedly struck two vehicles at 6 p.m. Birschoff's Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling southbound on Route 9 before he crossed over the centerline and sideswiped a passenger car driven by Joyce Crothers, 80, of Forked River. A van carrying up to five passengers struck the guardrail on the Garden State Parkway
One was reported injured after a van collided with a guardrail on the Garden State Parkway in Forked River, Lt. Stephen Jones with the state police said. The van, which was carrying up to five senior citizen passengers, struck the side guardrail on the Garden State Parkway northbound at approximately 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, he said. One woman sustained a hand injury and was transported to Southern Ocean County Medical Center, he said.

The accident has been cleared
Three were injured in an motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway in Lacey Township. The accident that occurred at mile marker 72.7 southbound at 12:47 p.m. involved a blue Mercury and silver Chevy, Lt. Steven Jones said. Both vehicles overturned resulting in three injuries. One vehicle overturned into the center lane while the other went into the trees off of the highway, Sgt. Adam Grossman said. Initial reports were for people who were unconscious and entrapped, Jones said. The driver of the Mercury was airlifted with severe injuries to Jersey Shore Medical Center. Accident occurred at Route 9 and Bayshore Drive in Barnegat
Two Forked River residents were extricated from a minivan at Route 9 and Bayshore Drive, following an accident at the intersection in Barnegat around 10 a.m. today, according to Barnegat police Sergeant Gary LaRussa. Reynaldo Savis, of Forked River, and his passenger Elke Savis, also of Forked River, were extricated from the minivan after Savis attempted to make a left turn onto Bayshore Drive, and was hit by a car driven by Jeremy Slappey, also of Forked River, who was traveling northbound. The collision caused the minivan, driven by Savis, to overturn and come to rest on the Northeast corner of Bayshore and Route 9. LaRussa said that all parties sustained minor injuries. Charges are pending following the two-car collision
A Forked River male sustained injuries and was airlifted to the hospital after police responded to an accident on Lacey Road early this morning. Police responded to Lacey Road near Newark Avenue for a two-car motor vehicle accident at 7:55 a.m. Preliminary investigation found that a pickup truck operated by Stephen Perez, 21, of Forked River was attempting to make a left turn onto Lacey Road eastbound from the parking lot of JT’s Bagel Hut. While attempting to turn, a full size van driven by Shane Kilburg, 25, of Waretown was traveling westbound on Lacey Road. The van struck the pickup truck on its side, police said. Two-car collision sent driver of other vehicle to Jersey Shore Medical Center
Berkeley Township police have charged a Lanoka Harbor woman with careless driving, following a two-car crash on Pinewald-Keswick Road near the entrance to Double Trouble State Park yesterday, Sgt. Ryan Roth said. Kaitlyn Davis, 18, Lanoka Harbor, was attempting to make a left turn into the state park around 5:21 p.m Tuesday, when her car struck a Ford sports utility vehicle traveling eastbound on Pinewald-Keswick Road. The SUV's driver, Lauren Helm, 29, Lanoka Harbor, was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center with chest, left arm and left hip pain. In the aftermath of the motor vehicle accident that literally impacted their place of worship just before 1 a.m. this morning, officials at Lighthouse Christian Church were consulting with engineers and building personnel today to assess the full extent of the damage from the DWI-related crash.
