Anti-Nuclear Peace Walk Begins Today

Demonstrators began walking from Oyster Creek Power Plant today and will continue a daily trek until they reach the Yankee Power Plant in Vermont on March 21.

Demonstrators met outside the Waretown Bakery located on Rt. 9 in Waretown for a walk that will begin today, and will end at the Yankee Power Plant in Vernon, Vt. on March 21. They are trying to raise awareness about Nuclear Power and the dangers that come with it.  "I just like to see people wake up to the fact that nuclear power is deadly. If we have an accident it destroys the eco-system for thousands of years," said Kat Comer from Whiting. The demonstartors stopped for a prayer session, led by buddhist monks, outside the Oyster Creek Generating Station.  As they prayed and drums beat, one by one the protesters tossed paper cranes into the water, hoping for peace and prosperity.  After the prayer, the walk began again, towards Hooper …
