Lacey Township remembers the fallen
Residents of Lacey marched from the United Methodist Church to Bicentennial Park where a Memorial Day ceremony was held today. The parade featured several color guards, an army truck and military vehicles, a bicycle contest, a fly over with missing man formation and more. “It’s important to honor the service people that passed away in past wars,” Bruce Baker of the Veteran's Commission previously said. “We remember the service people who gave it all. Some give something, some give it all.”

The memorial incorporates two granite towers connected by a piece of steel from the World Trade Center
Over 150 Lacey residents stood outside of the Lanoka Harbor Fire Company as a new 9/11 memorial was unveiled on the tenth anniversary of the tragedy. The memorial incorporates two six-foot-tall granite towers and a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The water fountain illuminates blue during the night. With white lights shining and the red from the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department's sign, the memorial lights up red, white and blue - a feature that was not planned, Ziemian said. An American "flag of heroes" that will list the names of first responders was laid over the steel. The memorial will have benches for the public to sit at and reflect in the future, Ziemian said. The department also plans to add another monumental stone on the…

All proceeds benefit the 9/11 memorial, which is expected to be built by Sept. 11, 2011
The Lanoka Harbor Fire Company held a car wash to raise funds for their 9/11 memorial, which will include a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. Motorists stopped by the firehouse located on Route 9 and drove their cars under a 75 foot aerial ladder spraying water down on them. Chief Amrozewicz was on hand washing and drying vehicles. Amrozewicz is thankful to all motorists that stopped to get their cars washed, he said. The fire department received the steel from the NY/NJ Port Authority earlier this year. The 9/11 memorial will incorporate the WTC steel and the Lanoka Harbor fire company is committed to building it in time for the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. For more information on the fire company's memorial, read…

Forked River and Lanoka Harbor fire companies battled an attic fire at 1136 Laurel Blvd. in Lacey on Friday night. The first arriving fire units found fire blowing out of the attic of the two-story private dwelling. It didn't take long for firefighters to get the fire under control, knocking down the bulk of the fire by 7:20 p.m. after about 20 minutes. Lanoka Harbnor's aerial piece went into service and assisted firefighters who were inside the structure, making headway toward the fire. After knocking down the bulk of the fire, crews went into a hitting-the-hot-spots mode to make sure there were no hidden pockets of fire. There were no injuries, an eyewitness told Patch. Because of the length of time the two fire companies were going to…
