PHOTOS: Ocean County Welcomes New Prosecutor

Joseph D. Coronato took oath during a Friday afternoon ceremony

An overflow audience at Ocean County's Historic Courtroom One welcomed Joseph D. Coronato as their new prosecutor Friday afternoon.  Joined by family, Coronato took the oath before local law enforcement and other officials, including Toms River Mayor Thomas Kelaher, state Senator Robert Singer and state Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa.  Coronato, a Republican with a law firm in Toms River, replaces outgoing prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford. Coronato was originally appointed by Gov. Chris Christie for his new post last June but had to wait until March for a confirmation vote.  Christie appointed Ford, a Democrat, as a Superior Court judge. Ocean County's New Prosecutor Takes Oath Friday

Joseph D. Coronato will be sworn in as prosecutor at 3:30 p.m. Friday

Joseph D. Coronato will take the oath to become Ocean County's new prosecutor on Friday.  Coronato, a Republican with a law firm in Toms River, will replace outgoing prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford during a Friday afternoon ceremony in Historic Courtroom One, according to Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michael Paulhus. Gov. Chris Christie appointed Ford, a Democrat, as a Superior Court judge. She previously served a stint as a Superior Court judge before being named prosecutor in 2007 by Gov. Jon Corzine. Both Ford and Coronato were confirmed for their positions by the state Senate Monday, according to the Asbury Park Press.  County freeholders offered praise for both during a meeting last week. Toms River Attorney Nominated as New Ocean County Prosecutor

Joseph D. Coronato would replace Marlene Lynch Ford

Joseph D. Coronato has been nominated by Gov. Chris Christie to become the new Ocean County prosecutor, pending state senate approval. Coronato, a longtime Toms River resident and attorney, now with the firm of Coronato, Brady and Kunz, 12 Madison Ave., Toms River, would replace Marlene Lynch Ford, who was appointed by Gov. Jon Corzine in June 2007. Coronato could not be reached for comment. The nomination of Coronato was one of three nominations for three different county prosecutor positions made by Christie yesterday. The other two were: James P.
