Police: 'Alert' Resident Rescued Dog from House Fire

Emergency services responded to two chimney fires last week

An "alert" Lacey resident rescued a neighbor’s dog from a fire that left a Forked River home with smoke and water damage, police said. A resident of Sandy Hook Drive witnessed heavy smoke coming from a home on Tampa Road in Forked River on Feb. 16, police said. Realizing the homeowners were not home, the neighbor ran into the residence and rescued an adult male black lab, prior to the arrival of emergency services. At approximately 5:53 p.m., Officers Robert Flynn and Peter Donahue responded to a 911 call of a residential chimney fire on the 700 block of Tampa Road. No injuries were reported, police said. The Forked River Fire Company responded and was able to extinguish the chimney fire. The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office is …

The blaze was confined to the garage and extinguished within 15 minutes

A fire ignited in the garage of a Forked River home damaging two cars on Saturday, Chief Ray Brandmahl of the Forked River Fire Department said. At approximately 4 p.m., the fire company responded to the scene on Leilani Drive where two cars—an electric and a Camaro—were located in a flooded garage. One was connected to a trickle charger, Brandmahl said. The residents were home when the fire ignited, he said. No injuries were reported and damage was confined to the cars, garage and garage doors. 'Small' Oven Fire Contained in Beach Boulevard Home

A fire ignited in the oven of a Beach Boulevard home Wednesday afternoon

An oven fire sparked in a Beach Boulevard home this afternoon but was contained and controlled within minutes, said Ray Brandmahl, Chief of the Forked River Fire Company. A call came into the Forked River Fire Company at 4:23 p.m. for a “fully involved” fire on the 100 block of Beach Boulevard, Brandmahl said. The blaze was "small." “It was mostly contained to the oven,” he said. There were no injuries reported and the house is livable, he said, although, the area will have to be cleaned up. Some of the cabinets and wall sustained damage. “I was impressed. The fire department responded quickly,” said Kryzie Louis, who lives next door. Louis’ neighbor ran up to the family and said her house was on fire, she said. She was able to smell the …

PHOTOS: Cole Bros' Elephants Enjoy a Bath

The Cole Brother’s 'Circus of the Stars' is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday

As two elephants walked to the parking lot of the Jones Road soccer fields, one grabbed hold of the other's tail. Chang and Lulu, elephants from the Cole Brothers circus, basked as members of the Forked River Fire Company hosed them down on Saturday morning, opening their mouths wide to get a drink. “It was awesome,” said James Ivins of the Forked River Fire Company. “I’ve never been that close to an elephant before. I’m a 45-year-old kid.” Chang laid down as if he were taking a break from the active lifestyle of show business. He would later be performing for Jersey Shore residents. This is the second year the Forked River Fire Company partnered with Cole Brothers for a fundraiser. President Jim Granato had found a letter from the circus …

Massive Fire Destroys Five Boats At Lacey Marina

Multiple agencies on scene at Ocean Beach Marina to investigate blaze

Firefighters and investigators are still probing an early morning fire at Ocean Beach Marina that destroyed five boats. “When we got here, five boats were fully engulfed in the fire,” Kevin Perrone of the Lanoka Harbor Fire Company said. “We just pulled the supply line in and soaked it down.” Five boats were destroyed, and two are severely damaged, Perrone said. The boats, which varied in size to over 40 feet in length, were in dry storage and located at the southeast corner of the marina’s property. The fire company was dispatched at 1:30 a.m. A total of 46 firefighters from the Forked River, Bayville and Waretown fire companies brought the fire under control by 3:30 a.m. and left by 5:30 a.m. “The wind caused it to spread real fast,” …
