WaWa Donates to Sandy Relief Efforts at Latest Ocean County Store Opening

New location opened Friday on Route 70 in Lakewood

WaWa celebrated the grand opening of its newest Ocean County location Friday by making donations to local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.  CEO Howard Stoeckel presented a $10,000 donation to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey while marking the opening of the convenience store chain's new location on Route 70 in Lakewood. "It's remarkable how people have been bringing the community back to life and supporting one another," Stoeckel said. A tractor-trailer containing 8 tons of food and disaster relief supplies was parked alongside the store. LTHS Alumnus to Hold Food Drive in Father's Memory

Charity event to be held July 15 at Community Hall

Lacey resident Sam Costantino is organizing a day-long food drive at Community Hall, at the corner of Route 9 and Lacey Road, Sunday, July 15, to benefit the Lacey Food Bank and the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day, Costantino is asking people to bring in donations of nonperishable foods. "I've lived in Lacey since 1993, and it's always something I wanted to do," said Costantino, a 2003 graduate of Lacey Township High School.  "People are struggling with the economy, and this will help people that need it."
