Township Committee and Congressman Jon Runyan present proclamations to honor Jackie Montgomery for her service

Sirens sounded as a hometown girl who recently returned from a tour in Iraq was escorted by township emergency services to her residence after she was honored with two proclamations, including one presented by Congressman Jon Runyan. Army Medic Jackie Montgomery, 20, was born and raised in Lacey Township but never anticipated joinin the Army. “I planned to go to college when I got a call from a recruiter,” Montgomery said. The recruiter explained to Montgomery that the Army would financially support her education. Montgomery jumped on the opportunity and hasn’t looked back since. Celebration To Be Held For Hometown Army Medic Returning From Iraq

Township emergency services will hold a surprise ceremony in Jackie Montgomery's honor at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21

After spending the last year serving her country in Iraq, Army Medic Jackie Montgomery will be arriving home to open arms as the town’s emergency services companies are throwing a surprise community celebration in her honor at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21 at the Municipal Building. Lacey Township residents are invited to join in the fun, as various emergency vehicles will escort Montgomery from the town’s three fire companies and two Emergency Medical Services agencies. Montgomery, 20, was born and raised in Lacey Township and graduated from the high school in 2009.
