July 4: A Musical, Hermit Crab Races, and a Walking History Tour

Things to do today in and around Lacey

While the libraries and many other things are closed, there are still things to do today besides watch fireworks:

1. Take in a showing of "Annie" at the Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven. Showtime is at 2 p.m.

2. Hit the Farmers Market on Water Street in Toms River for fresh fruits and vegetables. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. Take the Fourth of July Walking Tour of Long Beach Island, at the Long Beach Island Historical Association's musem in Beach Haven. Begins at 10 a.m. $10 for adults, $2 for children under 12.

4. Race a hermit crab! Bring your own or buy one for the races, set for 7:30 p.m. across from the Jenkinson's Aquarium gift shop. Prizes awarded to the winner.

5. Hold baby clams in your hands at Cattus Island County Park, off Fischer Boulevard in Toms River. Presented by Reclam the Bay, the program begins at 1 p.m.
