School Board Reorganization Meeting Set for Monday, Jan. 7

The reorganization meeting has been moved from the spring to winter since the school board election date shifted

The school district’s reorganization meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Lacey Township High School.

The meeting was typically held in the spring, but since school board elections shifted to November, the reorganization meeting has moved too.

At this meeting, a new president and vice president will be selected.

“After the change in school election dates, I was fortunate enough to have my term extended from 12 months to 20 months. I mean that sincerely. I’ve been very fortunate to be here,” current President Jack Martenak said.

“It’s been a very exciting time,” he said. “We hired a new superintendent. We endured a hurricane. I can go on and on. It’s been a very eventful last 20 months. I loved every minute of it.”

Martenak is currently serving his third term on the school board.

Board members Eric Schubiger and Maureen Tirella will be sworn in for another term after being re-elected in November.

The school board calendar will also be set. Martenak anticipates meetings to be continued on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.

If that calendar is approved, the next school board meeting will actually be on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school Lecture Hall.
