School Board to Vote on Jason King as New LMS Principal

At tonight's Board of Education meeting, High School Principal James Handschuch's salary will also be approved

The Board of Education will vote to approve Jason King as principal of at Monday's meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall.

King was formerly the vice principal of Lacey Middle School and will be replacing former principal

King’s recommended salary is $115,000 and his tenure as principal would be from Monday, July 9, to Sunday, June 30, 2013. As vice principal, King made $87,885 in 2010.

The board also will be recommending a salary for at $134,000 from Sunday, July 1, to Sunday, June 30, 2013. He previously made $111,019 as principal of the middle school.

  • contracts will be approved with the following companies: for $129,818.23, Dell, Inc. for $80,884, Softmart to provide Microsoft Licenses for $33,977.16 and SHI for technology software at $310,440.44.
  • The board will be approving the amended 2011-2012 NCLB Budget.
  • The board will be approving the 2012 STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Grant Application for $7,500. The application is included on page 82 of the agenda. The district proposes to create a new STEM Team for the ninth grade, to continue supporting the eighth grade team and provide registration, lodging and transportation fees associated with the 2013 STEM Forum and Expo convention.
  • The board will be approving Assistant Superintendent Dr. Vanessa Clark and Business Administrator James Savage’s employment contracts.
  • The board will be approving several new positions including Jason England as a Technology Teacher Coordinator at $58,035 and Frank Simonelli as a Database & Web Development Coordinator at $50,000.
