Residents Welcome at Super's Open Forum

Residents should come prepared with topics and ideas to discuss at tonight's open forum, which will take place at the Lacey Middle School at 7 p.m.

Parents and community members are invited to Superintendent Sandra Brower’s open forum in the Lacey Township Middle School’s media center at 7 p.m. today.

“I’m inviting the community,” Brower told Patch when she originally set up her “meet and greets” in January. “It will be informative. To meet people and talk to people about how they’re feeling about the schools and what they envision for the future.”

These forums are a part of Brower’s transition plan since she took the position in November.

that focus on listening and learning and eventually leading, she has previously stated. The plan includes meeting with “stakeholders” such as students, parents, teachers, staff, members of the community and the Board of Education.

Today’s open forum will be more structured than other “meet and greets” that Brower has held. Residents are expected to come prepared with topics, concerns and ideas to share.

“I’m hoping that people will come out and give me the opportunity to meet with them and learn about what they care about in the schools,” she said. “It’s another opportunity for me to get a sense of what their concerns are in a setting that should be very non-threatening and casual.”

Brower is hoping everyone from parents and property owners without children in the system come out.

“Everyone will be welcome,” she said.

Additional coffee hours and forums will be scheduled throughout the school year.
