Residents Welcome at Super's First Community Meet and Greet

Dr. Sandra Brower will be holding her first "Breakfast Coffee" at the Forked River Perkins from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12

Parents and community members can stop by the Forked River Perkins from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 for a cup of coffee as Superintendent Sandra Brower holds her first community meet and greet.

“I’m inviting the community,” she said. “It will be informative. To meet people and talk to people about how they’re feeling about the schools and what they envision for the future.”

Coffee hours are a part of Brower’s transition plan since she took the position in November.

that focus on listening and learning and eventually leading, she has previously stated. The plan includes meeting with “stakeholders” such as students, parents, teachers, staff, members of the community and the Board of Education.

Thursday’s “Breakfast Coffee” will be an “informal meet and greet.” Brower will not follow an agenda for the hour and will simply mingle, she said.

“I’m hoping that people will come out and give me the opportunity to meet with them and learn about what they care about in the schools,” she said. “It’s another opportunity for me to get a sense of what their concerns are in a setting that should be very non-threatening and casual.”

Brower is hoping everyone from parents and property owners without children in the system come out.

“Everyone will be welcome,” she said.

An arrangement was worked out with Perkins and coffee will be provided free of charge for any resident who attends.

If the coffee hour is successful, she plans to hold more in the future, she said.

This is the first of many meet and greets Brower plans to hold. Here are more dates to mark on your calendar:
