Lions Latest: Spring Sports Come to a Close
A weekly recap of Lacey Township High School athletics
Baseball: An outstanding performance on the mound nearly sparked an improbable upset last Monday, as the 16th seeded Lacey Lions gave the heavily favored top seed Hammonton all they could handle in the South Jersey Group III tournament.
Senior pitcher Victor Kochankowski was on the mound and held the top seeded offense without a run for 8 and two third innings. Unfortunately, the Lions just could not muster any offense and fell 1-0. Kochankowski struck out five in the loss. Lacey totaled seven hits including three from Tyler Dickson and two from Brian Emerson. Ryan Hanula hit a double, also.
It was the final game of the season for the Lions.

Softball: The Lady Lions qualified for the SJIII tournament, but just like baseball they were eliminated in their opening round game. Lacey fell to sixth seeded Delsea 11-1 as they could not pull an upset as an eleventh seed.
