Baseball: With the season still young, Lacey has limped out of the gate with an 0-2 record. Opening the season, the Lions ran into Manchester ace Tim Rogers, one of the toughest in the Shore, who tossed a no hitter for the Hawks as Lacey fell 9-0. With a quick turnaround on this past Wednesday, the bats were in full gear producing seven runs against defending 'B' South champion Brick Township. A 7-6 lead in the sixth inning was lost as the Lions would go onto lose 9-7. Seniors Ryan Reitmeyer and Victor Kochankowski went a combined 5-8 with two RBI's in the loss.

Lacey will play four games this week starting with two on the road. Monday they will travel to Toms River East at 3:45 p.m. and Wednesday they will be visiting Barnegat at 3:30 p.m. On Friday, the Lions will host Pinelands Regional at 3:45 p.m. and Toms River North on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Softball: Like baseball starting 0-2, the Lady Lions fortune turned Wednesday as they picked up their first win of the season, against Brick Township. The 7-2 win came after the Lions dropped their season opener against Manchester, despite Alyssa Smialowicz and Sara Wright combining for six hits on opening day. The Lions also fell to Toms River South 3-0 as the offense could only produce three hits.

Lacey only plays two games this week, hosting both. Pinelands Regional and Toms River North will visit the Lady Lions on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, this week. Both games will be played at 10 a.m.

Boys Lacrosse: Shane Allen's squad opened the 2012 season with a tough schedule and his Lions are trying to make the most of it. Sitting at 0-2 after games against Southern and Toms River East, both opponents have scored 14 goals while the Lions have scored just five total goals. However, those two teams have six wins between them already and look to be Shore Conference contenders.

Lacey will have plenty of room to grow this week with two games on tap. On Tuesday at 10 a.m., the Lions will host Toms River North and two days later travel to Toms River South for a 10 a.m. game verus the Indians.

Girls Lacrosse: While the boys lacrosse team has goal scoring as a top concern, it is just the opposite for the girls team. Through two games the Lady Lions have scored 22 goals. Yet they sit at 0-2 after a 15-11 loss to Howell on opening day and a 20-11 loss to Brick Memorial three days later.

On Tuesday the Lions will take on Brick Township at home at 1:00 p.m. before going on the road to take on Barnegat on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.. Friday, the Lady Lions will be on the road once again, this time travelling to Pinelands Regional for a 10 a.m. game.
