'Lend Me a Tenor' Production a Collaboration Between College and Vo-Tech

Two institutions pairing up for first time

Efforts to put on a theater production at Ocean County College paired up college and vocational school students to make the event possible. "Lend Me a Tenor" is the first time the two schools have collaborated on a play.

and the Performing Arts Academy have been at work throughout the semester. Opening night on the production was this weekend, and one more week of performances is scheduled at OCC's Toms River campus.

"This production is especially exciting for us as it is the first collaborative effort between OCVTS and OCC," said Jean Sullivan, OCVTS spokesperson. "We are not only utilizing the talents of students from both schools but also sharing valuable resources."

is a comedy of mistaken identities, unfortunate coincidences and opera personalities that arise after lead tenor "Il Stupendo" is unavailable the night of a show.

Remaining performances are Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov.19 at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $15 all seats (+$3 service fee).

A free performance for middle school and high school students will be given on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. Classroom teachers should contact the OCC Box Office for details.
