Will the takers get paid next week for doing nothing?

I am not sure about the Lacey school system's purpose in their early dismissal schedule, but many schools have shortened days at the end of the school year to accommodate final exams. A middle school or high school teacher can have 100-125 students and therefore this many exams to grade. An early dismissal provides time for the teachers to score these exams in a timely manner. In addition, many school final exam schedules try not to overburden the students with too much testing in one day. With some schools, students take two exams per day with the early dismissal schedule. Testing for 4 hours per day may be more beneficial for the students than testing for 7 hours per day.

also its about the heat i have heard...some schools dont have air. do any of the lacey schools have air conditioning?

Yes, some of them do, @grace. BTW: I don't believe the TEACHERS have 1/2 days. I think it's only the students. The teachers are grading finals, getting year end grades together, making referrals for next year's placements, putting EOY reports together and all that jazz.
