Lacey Township High School Fishing Flea Market raises $4,000

Saltwater fly tier Bob Popovics, 62, of Seaside Park demonstrated his craft that he's been performing for over 40 years.

“The most important tool needed to tie flies for the beginner is a good vise, otherwise the hook will move and you will be frustrated,” Popovics said.

Popovics's demonstration was part of the Lacey Township High School Fishing club's second annual fishing flea market, which was held this weekend in the Lacey High School gymnasium.

Over 55 vendors paid $25 per six foot table to display their goods and admission was $3. The club met their goal of raising $4,000, an increase of $500 from its last flea market.

All proceeds will go toward fishing trips for the fishing club.

The market offered a huge variety of fishing items that included sinkers, reels, plugs and many others.

Shopper Tom Lytle, 40, of Forked River said “this is the best thing ever” while shopping with his sons Danny, 2, and Alex, 10.
