Informational Meeting to be Held for Community on Annual Trip Abroad

The high school language department is organizing a summer trip to France, Spain and Portugal

The Lacey Township High School’s language department will be holding an informational and organizational meeting regarding the eighth annual trip to Europe on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in Café North.

This year’s educational thirteen-day tour of France, Spain and Portugal will include stops in Paris, Madrid, Toledo, Servilla, Granada and Lisbon.

The language teachers have organized the trip yearly and the destinations vary each trip, Spanish Instructor Chuck Edens said. During the summer of 2010, the group consisted of mostly German students so they planned a trip to Germany and Austria.

“We hope French and Spanish students can go to practice the language,” Edens said.

Although students will be visiting French and Spanish speaking cities, the trip is open to all students regardless of what language they study, Edens said. Parents and relatives of the Lacey Township School District are also invited.

Typically groups of 30 to 40 go on the high school’s trip abroad. The cost will be approximately $3,095 for students and $3,510 for adults. Cost includes site seeing, meals (except lunch), transportation, a daily travel guide, and more.

“It makes it more economical when more people can go,” he said.

Some sites that will be visited include Mont St. Michel Abbey, Louvre, and the Royal Palace.

The trip will be run by the Education First (EF) Educational Tour company. EF is the world’s largest private educational organization with 45 years experience. The organization has offices and schools located in over 50 countries and offers language, travel and cultural exchange programs for students of all ages.
