First Annual Moving Planet Eco Fair

The September 24 Eco Fair in South Toms River will be part of a global day of events called "Moving Planet" organized by the international climate campaign 350.org.  Thousands of rallies are being planned around the world, from marches against coal in India to massive bike rides in Brazil to send a strong message.  The purpose of the event is to send a strong message to our leaders and policymakers that we are tired of having dirty fossil fuels make us sick and spoil our environment, and that its time that we make the move to plentiful, homegrown energy.

In South Toms River, organizers are planning the First Annual Moving Planet Eco Fair on September 24 to be held at Mathis Park on Route 166 from 11AM to 7PM.  There will a variety of environmental organizations, "green" vendors, as well as activities for the kids.  As part of the event, all students in Ocean County are invited to participate in an Art Contest, which is organized into three groups: Grades 1-4; Grades 5-8; and Grades 9-12.  The art, which can be in any form EXCEPT PYROTECHNICS, should depict how and/or why we can move our planet away from fossil fuel.  Prizes will be given to the top three entries in each category.  Admission is free and vendor spaces, which are 10'x10', are available for $25 for vendors/ non-profits and $50 for food vendors.

This event is sponsored by Second Chance for Life, a non profit organization that helps our homeless veterans.  Proceeds from the Eco Fair will be donated to Second Chance for Life.
