BOE to Hold School Budget Hearing

Residents invited to ask questions, offer comments on 2011-12 spending plan

Residents can ask questions and register concerns about the proposed school budget at a hearing tonight.

The Lacey Township Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the high school lecture hall. The board will present the 2011-12 spending plan, which will not raise taxes.

Spending has increased by 3.6 percent, with an overall budget of $68,886,794. But with a $612,488 increase in state aid, $1.1 million generated in Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs), approximately 35 percent saved in electric bills, and the teacher’s salary freeze last year, the board was able to craft a budget that holds the line on property taxes, Business Administrator James Savage said.
