BOE Candidates to Debate Monday Night

Brick Patch to provide live webcast

Candidates for the Brick Township Board of Education will debate Monday night.

Brick Patch will provide a live webcast of the proceedings, as well as a wrap-up story the morning after.

All 11 candidates vying for four available seats on the board were invited to participate, said Rosanna Weldon, President of the Brick Memorial High School PTSA, which helped organize the event along with the Veterans Memorial Middle School PTSA.

Candidates will provide opening statements, the order of which will be chosen by lottery, and the reverse order will be used for closing statements. Brick residents will be able to ask questions of the candidates in between.

Gail Saxer of the Ocean County League of Women Voters will serve as moderator.

The forum will be held Monday, Oct. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Middle School auditorium.

Oct. 23rd debate cancelled due to Kathy Lindenbaum wanting pre arranged questions given to her candidates. She also scheduled debate for dates while Sue Suter and Walter Campbell would be at school board mandatory training class. This is a example of what to expect for the future of Brick Board of Education with this Repubican ticket trying to bully everyone.

And, just how does Kathy get away with that? Board members sitting for debate should get together and insist this debate be cancelled in lieu of Presidential debate scheduled for 9 PM that evening. Do they really think people have nothing else to do but sit through a BOE debate and then watch the extremely important Presidential debate? We are parents and working people, whose time is very valuable, whether or not the Board agrees. If Board members are too small to care about what is happening during this crucial Presidential election, they should all be out.

Once you knew it conflicted with the Presidential debate, it should have been rescheduled. This is called being proactive. We are at the mercy of the moderator? Come on, as if that person matters....just look at Lehrer and Candy so far.

The BOE debate ends before the Presidential debate begins. There will also be a live webcast of the BOE debate here, so if you can't make it to VMMS you can watch it live on this site. Also, barring any technical glitches, we should have archived video on demand of the debate tomorrow morning.
