Best in Show at Lacey Township High School's Annual Science Fair

Lacey Township students show off their science skills

With 100 participants gathered in the Media Center, Lacey Township High School had its annual science fair on Feb. 24. Thirty-five of those students walked away from the event with an award in their hands, honoring their top projects at the fair.

The science projects were everything from "Does caffeine affect your teeth?" to "The Different Kinds of Blood Splatter."

Students Samantha Ferreras and Robert Naia won the grand prize, "Best in Show,"  for their project "What is the Primary Application of Memory Wire in a Prosthetic Hand." Ferreras and Naia created a mobile prosthetic hand out of wood.

During the awards, Ferreras said she thought she might have been disqualified, because she did not hear her name until the end. Then she expressed excitement to hear she won the top spot.

Principal William Zylinski said "Congrats to all the winners of this year's science fair. They will be competing next in the Jersey Shore Science Fair at Stockton College."
