Hurricane Season is Around the Corner

Whether you have had storm damage or not, we must all take precautions to prepare for the worst-case scenario with the upcoming hurricane season.

It's hard to believe, but June 1 starts the beginning of another hurricane season! In a press release issued a couple of weeks ago, Dr. William Gray (the famous climatologist of Colorado State University) indicated that, once again, this year will provide us with a much more active hurricane season.

Dr. Gray, who has normally been forecasting hurricanes much earlier in the year, waited until mid-April to make his predictions. However, he's basing some of his statements on the idea that the water in the Atlantic Ocean is much warmer now than it has been in the past, and that it means a greater than average threat of thunderstorms. Any increase in the number of thunderstorms will also mean a greater likelihood of tropical depressions.

I will not deny it, I have always been skeptical of Dr. Gray as the original forecaster of doom and gloom! However, based on the events of the last two years (along with the warmer-than-normal surface temperatures of the Atlantic Ocean), I think it would be safe to say that we should take some of these predictions seriously.
