Township Committee to Hold Budget Workshop Meeting

The Budget Workshop Meeting will be held March 31 at 6:30 p.m.

The Lacey Township Committee will hold its second budget workshop meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Departments including Public Works, Police, Community Development, Code Enforcement, Recreation, and Finance will discuss the 2011 municipal budget.

Last month, the municipal court, tax assessor, tax collector, municipal clerk, and administration presented their preliminary budgets to the committee.

Lacey Township’s state aid was maintained at $11,273,840 under Gov. Chris Christie’s proposed budget.

The township will be receiving $11,107,558 from the energy tax and $166,282 for the Garden State Trust, which decreased by 33 percent since last year.

Based on the $3.2 million shortfall Lacey Township is currently facing, Mayor Gary Quinn previously said that taxes may increase by 2 percent this year, which is the maximum that municipalities can increase taxes under the state-mandated cap.
