More Than 1,000 Come Out for Uncontested Primaries

Approximately 4 percent of Lacey’s population came out to the polls for the uncontested primary elections on Tuesday.

Locally, — those of Republicans Mayor Mark Dykoff and Gary Quinn. Dykoff and Quinn both filed petitions to run to keep their seats. Democrats Nicholas Toth and Shawn Judson also will vie for seats on the committee for 2013.

Out of 18,505 registered voters in Lacey Township, a total of 1,116 votes, not including absentees, were cast at the polls, according to Lacey Township’s primary election results.

Approximately 82 percent of Lacey's registered voters who made it out to the polls were Republican.

Quinn earned 872 votes and Dykoff got 820 from the 18 voting districts including absentees. Toth got 208 votes and Judson 212 from the 18 voting districts including absentees.

There were 10 write-ins for Democrats and nine for Republicans.

The four candidates will not be facing an outside challenger come November’s general election as no Independent candidates filed nominating petitions to be on the ballot.

Last year, only 633 votes were cast out of 18,366 registered Lacey voters for the between Republican Committeeman Dave Most and Democratic newcomer Gary Vaccaro.

Results are unofficial until certified by the Ocean County Board of Elections.
