Lacey's Annual 5k Slated for Aug. 24

The race will feature the same course through Gille Park as in 2012

The Lacey Municipal Alliance is entering prep mode for its 13th annual 5K, which is set for Saturday, Aug. 24.

The race will feature the same course through Gille Park as in 2012 with multiple water stops, prize drawings and refreshments.

People may run in teams of three or more. To participate for the Mayor’s Trophy, teams must be made up of five or more Lacey Township residents. The Team Challenge is open to any group of 3 or more runners regardless where they reside.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three overall male and female and duplication in the age groups. Trophies will be awarded in 5-year age categories, male and female.

For children, there will be a Kiddie Dash. The cost will be $5 per child and each will get a participation ribbon and an Italian ice.

At the end of the race course, runners will be treated to refreshments.

The Municipal Alliance also is looking for sponsorships in the advertising journal. The sponsorship form can be found on the 5k website.

The Fun Run will step off at 8 a.m. and the 5k at 8:30 a.m. 

Registration forms will be available at www.Lacey5k.com or in the Recreation office. Pre-registration for the 5k is $25, $30 at the race. The 1-mile run is $15 to pre-register, $20 the day of the race. There is a discount for students.
