Lacey Prepared For Tropical Storm Andrea

Township's Office of Emergency Management 'ready to go' if need be, mayor says

Lacey Township officials are ramping up efforts to deal with Tropical Storm Andrea and future storms, Mayor David E. Most said today.

"The landscape is changing," he said. "We have to be more proactive."

Andrea is expected to be primarily a rain event. But Most says the township has to plan for the future, which may hold more devastating storms like Superstorm Sandy.

"The whole environment is changing," he said. "The storms are more frequent. It's important for the community to be prepared."

The township has appropriated money for a generator to be used in power outages in a public shelter, Most said.

Township residents had to be bused out of Community Hall to public shelters during Superstorm Sandy. Most would like to see a shelter in Lacey Township.

Township Office of Emergency Management officials met earlier to monitor Andrea, he said.

"We've been informed about the situation," Most said.
