Lacey Council, BOE Seats Up for Grabs Today
Ocean County resident to choose new sheriff today, as well
Two Republicans and two Democrats are facing off for two, three year terms on the Lacey Township Committee, while eight candidates are vying for three seats on the township's Board of Education in today's general election.
Steven C. Kennis and Peter Curatolo, Republicans, are competing for two seats on the committee with Democrats Alison Lemke and Gary Vaccaro.
Current school board members Linda A. Downing and Frank Palino are running to retain two of the three seats up for grabs on the school board. In all, eight candidates are running, which include Louis Discenza, Donna McAvoy, Josephine Whitleigh, Regina Discenza, Shawn Giordano and John Dodaro.
Lacey residents will also choose between re-electing 9th district legislators Sen. Chris Connors and Assembly member Brian Rumpf and DiAne Gove - or send Democrats Anthony Mazzella, Peter Ferwerda and Christopher McManus to Trenton for four year and two year terms, respectively.
Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy, a Republican, is facing off against fellow Toms River resident and retired federal law enforcement officer George "Bob" Armstrong to serve as Ocean County Sheriff, while incumbent Republican Surrogate Jeffrey W. Moran is facing off against Democrat Michael Collins.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
