Hundreds Come Out For Uncontested Primaries

No Independents to challenge in general election

Lacey’s primary elections may have been uncontested but hundreds came out to the polls.

Most’s seat is the only one open as his term ends Dec. 31, 2011. As the only Republican in the running, Most and Democrat newcomer Gary Vaccaro were the only candidates on the ballot.

Out of 18,366 registered voters in Lacey Township, 684 came out to the polls on June 7, according to the Ocean County Clerk’s official primary election results.

Most earned 486 votes while Vaccaro took 191 in their respective primaries. There were a total of eight write-ins.

Most and Vaccaro will not be facing an outside challenger come November’s general election as no Independent candidates filed nominating petitions to be on the ballot.
