From the Township: Hurricane Sandy Post Storm Clean Up Update

Township adds four more collection days

This is an announcement in order to update our residents regarding the ongoing bulk curbside collection program as well as the brush/tree parts collection.

As you know, the Township has been aggressively cleaning and clearing debris due to Superstorm Sandy which made landfall on the evening of October 29. We are now in our 23rd day of cleanup and have made great strides. Unfortunately, FEMA has placed limits on cost reimbursements which results in the Township having to placedeadlines for collection and cleanup services.

The following will occur going forward:

A. For those areas receiving bulk pickup due to flood damage there will be four more collection dates:

  • Today, Wednesday, Nov. 21
  • Saturday, Nov. 24
  • Wednesday, Nov. 28
  • Saturday, Dec. 1

Please make every effort to have any discarded items placed at the curb for pickup. Any items, other than household trash, placed curbside after December 1st will not be picked up. Any items requiring pickup beyond this date, it will be the responsibility of the homeowner to obtain a dumpster for its removal.

B. The Township will be continuing its brush and tree parts pickup process through Friday, Dec. 7. Any brush placed curbside beyond this date will not be collected. As you know the Township has a recycling drop off center that you may bring your brush to seven days a week.

Finally, the existing Compost Drop Off Center rules will be reinstated effective Dec. 7, which prohibits landscapers, tree removal companies, or contractors to deposit tree related debris including stumps, brush or wood chips.

I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and continued support during this difficult time.
