Committee Members to Hold Town Hall Meeting April 17

Meeting will give residents a more 'intimate setting' to voice their concerns

Residents will have another outlet to voice their concerns as Committee members Sean Sharkey and Helen DelaCruz are holding a town hall meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at the Lacey Library at 7:30 p.m.

“This is an opportunity for any resident who wants to come and speak to us in a more intimate setting with no cameras. Any concerns, questions you may have regarding the township, you’re welcome to come by,” Sharkey said.

Sharkey often gets approached when he’s out and about in town by residents with concerns but he doesn’t always have the time to provide answers, he said.

Only a handful of residents come out to the township Committee meetings out of a population of more than 27,000. The town hall-style meeting will give residents the opportunity to share their wants, needs and concerns.

Sharkey held a similar meeting last year. Approximately 12 residents attended. Topics discussed included school board elections and the rising drug problem in Lacey.

This year, Sharkey is going to try to shift the conversation from the school district to township specific issues, he said.

This forum will be held in addition to Meet the Mayor with David Most, which is at the Library the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.
