Whiting Woman Flown To Jersey Shore University Medical Center After Route 539 Crash

A Manchester Township woman was listed in stable condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune tonight after suffering possible head and neck injuries in a Route 539 crash.

Dale Martin, 37, was a passenger in a sports utility vehicle driven by Michael Martin Jr., 30, also of Whiting, when the accident occurred at 3:36 p.m. on Sunday, Lacey police said.

Martin was traveling north on Route 539 when his sports utility vehicle left the roadway, struck a guard rail, and overturned in the woods, police said.

Officers Michael Eden and Dimitri Tsarnas responded to accident near mile marker 18.

Martin had to be extricated from the car. She was then flown to Jersey Shore.

Lacey police officers George Resetar and Adam Ewart, who are assigned to the Lacey Township Accident Response Team, responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

The Forked River, Bamber Lakes, Barnegat Township, Pinewood Estates, and Whiting Fire departments, the Lacey Township and Barnegat Township EMS, the Barnegat Police Department, and MONOC  paramedics responded to the accident, police said.
