Whiting Man And Woman Facing Charges After Dispute Outside Caffrey's

by Patricia A. Miller

Police recently arrested a Whiting man and woman on disorderly conduct charges after they responded to a dispute in the parking lot of Caffrey's Steakhouse, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Patrolmen Michael Verwey and Noah Schaffer received a call from a taxi driver who asked for police assistance at 1:35 a.m. on April 19, the chief said.

Officers found James Magee, 50, Crockett Lane, Whiting and Gail Swayze, 48, Corbin Court, Lakewood, displaying "aggressive and tumultous" behavior when they arrived, Paprota said.

When officers attempted to arrest Magee for disorderly conduct, he became combative and tried to "head butt" Verwey. He was issued a criminal summons for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, the chief said.

Swayze was also arrested at the scene and charged on a criminal summons with disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice, Paprota said.
