Perrone's service to others began early, his elementary school friend John Sellitti wrote in Perrone's guest book on Legacy.com.

"Kevin was right there for me in 1974, in 5th grade when I went blind," Sellitti wrote. "He was one of the few who took the time to learn Braille alongside me. He guided me throughout Lanoka Harbor Elementary School and until I learned my way. Kevin didn't just serve Lacey Township. He gave."

Perrone was born in the Bronx and had lived in Lanoka Harbor since he was six years old, according to his obituary on Legacy.com

He was a heavy equipment operator for Lacey Township for the past 25 years. He was a life member of the Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Company. He served 31 years and held the position of chief when he died.

Perrone also volunteered as a coach for Lacey Pop Warner, Lacey Little League and Lacey Lacrosse. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, according to his obituary.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Catherine and brothers Joseph and Christopher. He is survived by Karen, his wife of 24 years, and sons Kevin M. Jr. and Nicholas J. He is also survived by his brothers Keith and Dominick and sisters Denise Chrisman, Patricia Conod and Elizabeth Gay, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
